The Wild Ride​

A 1960 American crime drama directed by Harvey Berman, the film follows Johnny Varron (Jack Nicholson), a charismatic and rebellious member of the Beat Generation who spends his days participating in dirt track races, partying, and causing trouble. Johnny is the leader of a teenage gang, disdainful of societal norms and laws. His life is filled with adrenaline, speed, and disregard for consequences. However, his behavior leads to tragic events: he kidnaps his friend Dave's (Robert Bean) girlfriend, kills a police officer, and ultimately faces the devastating consequences of his actions. The film was shot on a limited budget around Concord, California, involving students from a local drama school, with Roger Corman serving as producer. Despite its modest resources, the film became a cult classic, particularly due to the standout performance of a young Jack Nicholson.​
