Time Bandits

The 2024 fantasy adventure television series, created by Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement, and Iain Morris, is a modern adaptation of Terry Gilliam's 1981 film of the same name. Premiering on July 24, 2024, on Apple TV+, the series comprised 10 episodes but was canceled in September 2024 after its first season. The story follows 11-year-old Kevin (Kal-El Tuck), a history enthusiast who discovers a time portal in his wardrobe and joins a group of eccentric thieves led by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow). Together, they journey through various historical periods, including the creation of Stonehenge, the Ice Age, and the Harlem Renaissance, encountering historical figures and mythical creatures. The cast also features Tadhg Murphy, Rune Temte, Rachel House, and Jemaine Clement as the embodiment of Evil. Filming took place in New Zealand and Toronto, utilizing practical effects, miniatures, animatronics, and over 5,000 computer-generated visual effects. The series received positive reviews for its visual design and Monty Python-style humor but did not achieve high ratings and was discontinued after one season.
