Two and a Half Men

The 2003 American comedy television series created by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn centers on Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), a successful jingle composer and committed bachelor whose carefree life in his Malibu beach house is disrupted when his brother Alan (Jon Cryer), recently divorced and financially unstable, moves in along with Alan's naive and awkward son, Jake (Angus T. Jones). The show focuses on the contrast between Charlie's hedonistic lifestyle and Alan's uptight demeanor, as well as the humorous situations arising from their cohabitation and the challenges of raising Jake. The series also features Holland Taylor as their domineering mother Evelyn, Conchata Ferrell as the sarcastic housekeeper Berta, Marin Hinkle as Alan's ex-wife Judith, and Melanie Lynskey as the obsessive neighbor Rose. After the eighth season, Charlie Sheen departed the show, and his character was replaced by Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher), a socially awkward billionaire who purchases Charlie's house and allows Alan and Jake to continue living there. Known for its witty humor, satirical take on family dynamics and gender stereotypes, the series became one of the most popular sitcoms of its time, running for 12 seasons until 2015.
