The 2010 American disaster action thriller directed by Tony Scott and written by Mark Bomback is based on the real-life CSX 8888 incident. The film centers on a runaway freight train carrying hazardous materials, threatening to cause a major disaster in Pennsylvania. Veteran engineer Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) and young conductor Will Colson (Chris Pine) team up to stop the train and avert catastrophe. Yardmaster Connie Hooper (Rosario Dawson) coordinates efforts from the dispatch center. The film also features Ethan Suplee (Dewey), Kevin Dunn (Oscar Galvin), Kevin Corrigan (Inspector Scott Werner), and Lew Temple (Ned Oldham). The film received positive reviews from critics, grossing $167.8 million worldwide against a budget of $85–100 million. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing and was Tony Scott's final film before his death in 2012.
