The 2001 French action comedy film, directed by Gérard Krawczyk and written by Luc Besson, stars Jean Reno as Hubert Fiorentini, a French police commissioner known for his unorthodox and tough methods. After an incident in a nightclub where he uses force on a suspect, he is put on mandatory leave. During this time, he receives news of the death of his former lover, Miko, whom he parted ways with 19 years ago. Hubert travels to Japan for her funeral and discovers that he has a 19-year-old daughter, Yumi (Ryōko Hirosue), whose existence he was unaware of. Yumi does not know that Hubert is her father, considering him a friend of her mother. It turns out that Miko left a substantial inheritance to her daughter, but access to it is only possible after she reaches adulthood. Hubert decides to protect Yumi from the dangers associated with the inheritance and, together with his partner Momo (Michel Muller), confronts the yakuza responsible for Miko's death. The film combines elements of action and comedy, showcasing cultural differences and the development of the father-daughter relationship.
