An American adventure film released in 1991 in the United States, directed by Randal Kleiser, based on the novel of the same name by Jack London. Set in 1896 during the Klondike Gold Rush, the story follows young adventurer Jack Conroy (Ethan Hawke), who travels from San Francisco to Alaska to claim his late father's mining stake. Along the way, he meets guides Alex Larson (Klaus Maria Brandauer) and Skunker (Seymour Cassel), embarking on a perilous journey through the wilderness. During their travels, they encounter a wolf pack, and a pup left without its mother is taken in by local Native Americans, who name him White Fang. Later, White Fang falls into the hands of a cruel man named Beauty Smith (James Remar), who turns him into a fighting dog. Jack rescues White Fang from brutal fights and begins to tame him, forming a strong bond between them. Together, they continue the quest for gold, facing various challenges, including bear attacks and robbery attempts. The film features excellent cinematography by Tony Pierce-Roberts and music by Basil Poledouris. Despite deviations from the original book's plot, the film received positive reviews for its visual effects and performances, particularly highlighting Ethan Hawke's portrayal and the realistic depiction of White Fang, played by a wolfdog named Jed.
