Young Man

The 2022 Russian comedy, directed by Alexandr Fomin, tells the story of Vanya Revzin (Pavel Tabakov), who studied diligently from childhood, following his mother's belief in his potential for success. However, despite her expectations, Vanya faces failures in adulthood: he is fired from his job, and his wife leaves him. Disillusioned and convinced that honesty doesn't yield desired results, Vanya decides to impersonate a seventeen-year-old teenager to take advantage of opportunities available to the youth. This venture leads to a series of comical and enlightening situations, prompting the protagonist to reassess his life priorities and understand true values. The film touches on themes of self-identity, societal expectations, and the quest for one's own path in a world full of stereotypes and prejudices.
