A 1986 sports drama film directed by Peter Markle. The plot follows 17-year-old farm boy Dean Youngblood (Rob Lowe) from rural New York, who dreams of playing in the National Hockey League. After his father (Ed Lauter) initially disapproves, his brother Kelly (Jim Youngs) convinces him to support Dean's ambition. Dean travels to Canada to try out for the Hamilton Mustangs, showcasing his offensive skills but lacking physical toughness. Nicknamed "Pretty Boy" due to his appearance and playing style, he competes with Carl Racki (George Finn) for a spot on the team. Despite losing a fight to Racki, Dean is selected by the head coach (Patrick Swayze), a former NHL star. Dean begins a romance with the coach's daughter, Jessie (Cynthia Gibb). When his mentor, Derek Sutton (Patrick Swayze), is injured due to Racki's actions, Dean returns home. His brother teaches him fighting techniques, and his father helps him improve his on-ice performance. Returning to the team, Dean is ready to face Racki in the final Memorial Cup playoff game. With seconds remaining, he scores a winning penalty shot and, after the game, fights Racki, emerging victorious. His teammates lift him in celebration.
