A 2007 American crime drama film directed by Ridley Scott and based on true events. The story is set from 1968 to the mid-1970s and follows Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), the driver of Harlem crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Clarence Williams III). After Bumpy's death, Lucas decides to build his own criminal empire by importing heroin directly from Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He offers a higher-quality product at a lower price, earning a million dollars a day and becoming an idol for all of Harlem. Meanwhile, honest cop Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe), despised by his colleagues for his integrity, begins an investigation that leads him to Lucas. The film explores themes of corruption, morality, and the struggle for power in the criminal underworld.
