Blood and Wine

A 1996 American neo-noir crime thriller directed by Bob Rafelson and written by Nick Villiers and Alison Cross, the film centers on Miami wine merchant Alex Gates (Jack Nicholson), whose life unravels due to debts, infidelity, and estrangement from his family. In a desperate bid to resolve his financial woes, he teams up with British safecracker Victor Spansky (Michael Caine) to steal a million-dollar diamond necklace from a client's home, where his Cuban mistress Gabriela (Jennifer Lopez) works. Upon finding the necklace, Jason decides to keep it, leading to a series of betrayals, violence, and tragedies, including Suzanne's death in a car accident and Victor's murder. In the climax, Jason confronts Alex on a boat, severely injuring him during a struggle. Gabriela, realizing the futility of greed, returns the necklace, keeping only one stone. Alex, facing the consequences of his actions, throws the necklace into the ocean as Jason sails away alone.
