American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey, by vocalist Jon Bon Jovi. The original lineup included Jon Bon Jovi (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Richie Sambora (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alec John Such (bass guitar), Tico Torres (drums), and David Bryan (keyboards). The band achieved global success with their third album, "Slippery When Wet" (1986), featuring hits like "Livin’ on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name," which became signature songs. In 1994, bassist Alec John Such left the band and was replaced by Hugh McDonald, and in 2013, Richie Sambora departed due to personal reasons related to family and health, with Phil X taking his place. Bon Jovi has sold over 130 million albums worldwide, releasing 16 studio albums, including "New Jersey" (1988), "Keep the Faith" (1992), "Crush" (2000) with the hit "It’s My Life," and "Forever" (2024). The band is known for their extensive world tours, such as the "Have a Nice Day Tour" and "Because We Can Tour," and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Bon Jovi has received numerous awards, including Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Brit Awards, and continues to be one of the most influential rock bands of their era.
