Cherry

A 2021 American crime drama directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film is based on Nico Walker's novel of the same name and follows the story of a young man named Cherry (Tom Holland), who drops out of college and enlists in the army as a medic to cope with a broken heart after parting ways with his beloved Emily (Ciara Bravo). During his service in Iraq, he witnesses the horrors of war, leading to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Upon returning home, Cherry struggles to find his place in civilian life, but PTSD and lack of support drive him to opioid addiction. Together with Emily, who also becomes addicted, they descend into a world of drugs and crime. To sustain their growing habit, Cherry starts robbing banks, further complicating their situation. The film explores themes of love, war, addiction, and crime, highlighting the devastating impact of PTSD and substance abuse on a young man's life and those around him.
