Chizh & Co

Russian rock band formed in 1994 in Saint Petersburg by guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Sergey Chigrakov, known by his nickname Chizh. Prior to forming the band, Chigrakov played in the Kharkiv-based group "Raznye Lyudi." In 1993, he recorded a solo album titled "Chizh," after which he decided to establish his own band. The original lineup included Alexey Romanyuk (bass guitar), Mikhail Vladimirov (guitar), Vladimir Khanutin (drums), and Alexander Kondrashkin (percussion). The band quickly gained popularity with their unique style, blending elements of blues rock, rock and roll, and Russian rock. Their debut album "Perekryostok" was released in 1994, followed by successful releases such as "...O lyubvi" (1995) and "Erogennaya zona" (1996). In 1995, they released the live album "Greatest Hits," recorded at the Yubileyny Concert Hall in Saint Petersburg. In 1997, the band was named "Band of the Year" by Rock-Fuzz magazine. Despite lineup changes, Chizh & Co continues to perform and record music, remaining a significant presence in the Russian rock scene.
