City of Ember

This 2008 American science fiction adventure movie directed by Gil Kenan tells the story of the underground city of Ember, built as a refuge for humanity after a global disaster. After 200 years, the city's systems are failing—generators are dying, lights are flickering, and food is running out. Two clever and brave teenagers, Lina (Saoirse Ronan) and Doon (Harry Treadaway), discover an old document that may hold the key to escape. Facing resistance from the authorities and numerous dangers, they embark on a quest to find a way to the surface and save the city’s inhabitants from the impending darkness.
