Explorers

An American science fiction film released in 1985 in the United States, directed by Joe Dante. The story follows teenager Ben Crandall (Ethan Hawke), who is fascinated by science fiction and dreams of space travel. After experiencing a series of strange dreams featuring blueprints of an unknown device, he shares them with his friend Wolfgang Müller (River Phoenix), a young genius capable of bringing ideas to life. Together with their third friend, Darren Woods (Jason Presson), they construct a spaceship using scavenged materials and technology based on Ben's dreams. Their adventure takes them into space, where they encounter aliens whose culture is based on Earth's television shows and movies, leading the teenagers to reflect on the impact of human culture. The film uniquely blends adolescent dreams with science fiction elements and features visual effects created by Industrial Light & Magic. Although the film was not a commercial success upon its initial release, it gained a cult following after its VHS release.​
