A 1982 American fantasy film directed by John Milius, based on the character Conan from Robert E. Howard's stories. The plot follows Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a Cimmerian whose parents are killed by the snake cult leader Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones). Enslaved and trained as a gladiator, Conan gains his freedom and sets out on a quest for vengeance. Along the way, he meets thief Subotai (Gerry Lopez) and warrior Valeria (Sandahl Bergman), with whom he infiltrates the cult's temple, slays a giant snake, and steals treasures. King Osric (Max von Sydow) hires them to rescue his daughter, Princess Yasmina (Valérie Quennessen), who has fallen under the cult's influence. Disguised as a priest, Conan infiltrates the temple but is captured, tortured, and crucified on the Tree of Woe. Rescued by Subotai and Valeria, he is healed by the wizard Akiro (Mako) through spiritual rituals. During the rescue mission, Valeria is killed by a magical arrow from Doom. Conan cremates her body and prepares for the final battle. He defeats Doom's warriors and beheads Doom in front of his followers. Freed from the cult's influence, they disperse, and Conan burns down the temple before departing with the princess.
