A 1987 fantasy film based on the novel Mio, My Son by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. A Swedish-Soviet-British-Norwegian co-production, the film was directed by Vladimir Grammatikov. The story follows a young boy named Bosse (Nick Pickard), who lives in Stockholm with his indifferent foster parents. One day, he receives a magical apple that transports him to the Land of Faraway, where he learns that he is actually a prince named Mio and his real father is the King (Torsten Flinck). However, the kingdom is plagued by the evil knight Kato (Christopher Lee), who kidnaps children and turns them into stone. According to an ancient prophecy, only Prince Mio can defeat Kato. Accompanied by his loyal friend Jum-Jum (Christian Bale), Mio embarks on a perilous journey to confront the villain. Along the way, they encounter enchanted forests, magical creatures, and challenges that test their courage. In the final battle, Mio must face Kato and fulfill his destiny. The film embraces classic fantasy elements, exploring themes of friendship, fate, and bravery. The magical atmosphere is enhanced by a soundtrack composed by Benny Andersson of ABBA.
