Cruel Intentions

The 1999 American teen romantic drama directed by Roger Kumble is a modern adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 novel "Les Liaisons dangereuses." Set in New York City, the film follows step-siblings Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe) and Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar), affluent teenagers who indulge in manipulation and seduction. Simultaneously, Sebastian and Kathryn toy with the emotions of the naive Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair), a fellow student, drawing her into their schemes.
