A 1982 American-Canadian comedy film directed by Curtis Hanson and written by Bill L. Norton. Set in 1965 Los Angeles, the story follows four teenage friends—Woody (Tom Cruise), Dave (Jackie Earle Haley), Spider (John Stockwell), and Dave's younger brother Wendell (John P. Navin Jr.)—who embark on a road trip to Tijuana, Mexico. Their goal is to lose their virginity, while Wendell aims to purchase fireworks. Along the way, they pick up Kathy (Shelley Long), a housewife seeking a quick divorce. The group encounters a series of misadventures that challenge their perceptions of adulthood and personal growth. The film received predominantly negative reviews, holding an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews. With a production budget of $7 million, it grossed approximately $1.2 million at the box office. Despite its commercial failure, "Losin' It" marked one of Tom Cruise's early significant roles and was Curtis Hanson's debut as a feature film director.
