American rapper, producer, entrepreneur, and actor, born on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California. He began his music career in 1984 as a member of the electro-funk group World Class Wreckin' Cru. In 1986, he co-founded the group N.W.A with Eazy-E, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and MC Ren, which popularized gangsta rap by candidly depicting street life and social issues. In 1991, he left N.W.A and, together with Suge Knight, founded Death Row Records. In 1992, he released his debut solo album "The Chronic," which became a milestone in the development of G-funk—a subgenre of hip-hop characterized by heavy bass and synthesizer melodies. The album featured the hit "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" and earned Dre his first Grammy Award for the track "Let Me Ride." In 1996, he established his own label, Aftermath Entertainment, signing artists like Eminem and 50 Cent, whose careers he actively produced. In 1999, he released his second studio album, "2001," featuring hits like "Still D.R.E." and "The Next Episode." In 2015, he presented the album "Compton," inspired by the film "Straight Outta Compton." Dre also appeared in films such as "Set It Off," "The Wash," and "Training Day." In 2006, he co-founded Beats Electronics with Jimmy Iovine, which was sold to Apple in 2014 for $3 billion, making Dre one of the wealthiest musicians in the world. Throughout his career, he has received seven Grammy Awards, including Producer of the Year. In 2022, he performed at the Super Bowl alongside Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige. In 2023, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
