Hoffa

A 1992 American biographical crime drama directed by Danny DeVito and written by David Mamet, the film is based on the life of labor union leader Jimmy Hoffa. It chronicles Hoffa's (Jack Nicholson) rise from a union organizer in the 1930s to the head of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, his associations with organized crime, confrontations with authorities, and his mysterious disappearance in 1975. The narrative unfolds through the recollections of his close associate Robert "Bobby" Ciaro (Danny DeVito), a fictional character amalgamated from several of Hoffa's real-life aides. The film delves into Hoffa's complex relationships with political figures, including Robert Kennedy (Kevin Anderson), and his internal power struggles within the union, particularly with successor Frank Fitzsimmons (J.T. Walsh). While taking creative liberties with historical events, the movie captures the era's atmosphere and the protagonist's inner conflicts. The cast also features Armand Assante, John C. Reilly, Robert Prosky, among others. The film received Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography by Stephen H. Burum and Best Makeup.​
