MachineGames developed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, an action-adventure video game that Bethesda Softworks published in 2024. The Indiana Jones franchise underpins it, though the narrative is original and takes its cue from the film series. The year is 1937 — after "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981) and before "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989) in the archaeologist's own timeline. You play Indiana Jones himself, working to stop rival groups from tapping a power tied to the Great Circle: a chain of strange sites scattered across the globe that line up as a perfect circle on a map. The story spans real-world locations such as the Vatican City, Thailand, Egypt, and China. The game is primarily played from a first-person perspective, with third-person elements employed for environmental interactions. Players navigate through a mix of linear, story-driven areas and wider exploratory landscapes. Combat can be approached directly or avoided using stealth mechanics. Indy's signature whip serves as both a weapon and a tool for traversing obstacles and solving puzzles, uncovering alternate paths and hidden collectibles. The game's development was announced in January 2021 by Bethesda, MachineGames, and Lucasfilm Games. Directed by Jerk Gustafsson, the game features an original score by Gordy Haab, who also reinterpreted classic themes composed by John Williams.
