The 2016 American action-thriller directed by Paul Greengrass serves as the fifth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise and a direct sequel to "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007). The screenplay was written by Paul Greengrass and Christopher Rouse. Matt Damon reprises his role as Jason Bourne, a former CIA assassin who has been in hiding since exposing the Treadstone and Blackbriar programs. The film's plot begins with Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles), a former CIA operative, hacking into the agency's servers and uncovering information about covert operations, including details about Bourne's recruitment and his father, Richard Webb (Gregg Henry). She contacts Bourne to share this information, but their meeting draws the attention of the CIA. Director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) assigns Cyber Ops Division head Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander) to locate and eliminate Bourne, viewing him as a threat. Dewey also enlists a professional assassin known as the "Asset" (Vincent Cassel), who has personal motives for targeting Bourne. Bourne travels through Athens, Berlin, London, and Las Vegas to piece together fragments of his past and uncover the truth about his father's death. As his investigation progresses, he confronts new adversaries and exposes conspiracies within the CIA, including the "Iron Hand" project aimed at mass surveillance through the tech company "Deep Dream," led by Aaron Kalloor (Riz Ahmed). The film concludes with a confrontation between Bourne and Dewey, during which Bourne exposes the director's criminal plans and once again disappears from the authorities' radar. "Jason Bourne" received mixed reviews from critics: while some praised the intense action sequences and Damon's return to the role, others criticized the predictable plot and lack of innovation. Nonetheless, the film achieved commercial success, grossing over $415 million worldwide against a $120 million budget.
