An American crime drama from 1992, directed by Ernest R. Dickerson in his directorial debut. The film follows four African-American teenagers from Harlem: Quincy "Q" Powell (Omar Epps), Roland Bishop (Tupac Shakur), Raheem Porter (Khalil Kain), and Eric "Steel" Thurman (Jermaine Hopkins). They spend their days skipping school, playing in arcades, and avoiding conflicts with a Puerto Rican gang led by Radames (Vincent Laresca). Tired of constant humiliation and seeking respect, Bishop convinces his friends to rob a local store. Q, aspiring to become a DJ, is hesitant about the plan, fearing it might interfere with his participation in an important competition. During the robbery, Bishop kills the store owner, leading to tension within the group. The conflict escalates as Bishop becomes paranoid and aggressive, aiming to eliminate anyone who might expose him, including his own friends. The film explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and the quest for "juice" (respect) in urban life.
