An Australian biographical survival film released in 2017, directed by Greg McLean and written by Justin Monjo, based on the true story of Israeli adventurer Yossi Ghinsberg (portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe), who embarked on a journey into the Amazon rainforest in 1981. In Bolivia, he meets Swiss teacher Marcus Stamm (Joel Jackson) and American photographer Kevin Gale (Alex Russell). In La Paz, they encounter Austrian Karl Ruprechter (Thomas Kretschmann), who convinces them to venture deep into the jungle in search of an unknown tribe. The expedition begins with enthusiasm but soon turns into a struggle for survival due to harsh conditions, internal conflicts, and the unpredictability of nature. Marcus suffers from painful sores on his feet, slowing the group down. Deciding to build a raft to navigate the river, they face dangerous rapids, leading to their separation: Yossi and Kevin continue down the river, while Marcus and Karl choose to return on foot. The raft of Yossi and Kevin is destroyed by the turbulent river, and they become separated. Left alone without equipment or survival skills, Yossi battles hunger, wild animals, and his own fears to survive for several weeks until he is rescued by Kevin, who brought help from a nearby settlement. The film explores themes of friendship, trust, and human resilience in the face of insurmountable challenges.
