Mad Dog and Glory

A 1993 American crime comedy-drama directed by John McNaughton, written by Richard Price. The film centers on Wayne Dobie (Robert De Niro), a shy Chicago police crime scene photographer nicknamed "Mad Dog" by his colleagues due to his gentle demeanor and lack of aggression. One day, Wayne saves the life of local mob boss Frank Milo (Bill Murray) during a convenience store robbery. In gratitude, Milo offers Wayne an unusual gift: a week of "personal services" from Glory (Uma Thurman), a young woman working at Milo's club who owes him money. Despite an awkward beginning, Wayne and Glory develop a romantic relationship. However, Milo refuses to let Glory go, claiming ownership over her. When Wayne attempts to "buy" her freedom for $40,000, Glory declines, viewing it as an acknowledgment of being property. The conflict escalates as Wayne confronts Milo, leading to a street brawl where Wayne stands up for love and freedom. Ultimately, Milo releases Glory, recognizing the authenticity of their feelings.
