The 1985 American martial arts action film directed by Corey Yuen follows the story of a young martial arts enthusiast, Jason Stillwell (Kurt McKinney), who idolizes Bruce Lee and dreams of becoming a kung fu master like his hero. When his father, a karate school owner, is attacked by a criminal organization linked to the Russian mafia, the family is forced to move from Los Angeles to Seattle. However, trouble follows Jason as he faces local bullies and a powerful crime syndicate pressuring martial arts schools into submission. At his lowest point, Jason receives an unexpected gift from fate—the spirit of Bruce Lee (Kim Tai Chung) appears to him and begins training him in martial arts and the philosophy of victory. Through relentless training, Jason gains the confidence, strength, and technique needed to stand up to evil. The film’s climax features an intense fight against the ruthless Russian fighter Ivan Kraschinsky (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a brutal champion working for the criminals. Using the lessons taught by the spirit of Bruce Lee, Jason triumphs and restores justice. The film blends dynamic fight scenes, a classic hero’s journey, and elements of Eastern philosophy, making it a cult favorite among martial arts enthusiasts.
