Painkiller: Overdose

A full-fledged standalone expansion to Painkiller, developed by Mindware Studios and originally conceived as a fan-made mod. Unlike the original game, the protagonist is Belial, a half-demon, half-human outcast and the illegitimate son of Satan, who becomes entangled in the war between Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. The game features 16 new levels with diverse environments, six unique weapons with alternate fire modes, and over 40 new enemy types and challenging bosses. The gameplay stays true to the series' fast-paced, chaotic combat, but introduces new abilities for the protagonist. Despite some fresh ideas, Painkiller: Overdose received mixed reviews due to technical issues, weaker level design, and less balanced gameplay compared to the original. The game is available on Windows.
