Panda Plan

A 2024 Chinese action-comedy film starring Jackie Chan as a fictionalized version of himself—an international action star who becomes involved in a mission to rescue a famous panda named Hu Hu from mercenaries. Released in China on October 1, 2024, the film grossed over ¥261 million (approximately $36.8 million) at the box office. Reviews, though, were mixed. James Marsh, writing in the South China Morning Post, went as low as 1 out of 5 stars. City on Fire's Paul Bramhall was no kinder, stating, "A charmless affair devoid of any purpose or entertainment value; at one point a bad guy says, 'What is Jackie Chan doing here!?', which is the same question anyone who dares watch it will likely also find themselves asking." Other reviewers found something to like: Mike McGranaghan of The Aisle Seat called the film "infectiously silly" and a "fast-paced comic adventure," despite "a couple wrong notes."
