The 1988 American action film is the third installment in the Rambo series. Directed by Peter MacDonald, with a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and Sheldon Lettich, the story follows John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone), who, after the events of the previous film, has settled in Thailand, living peacefully and assisting Buddhist monks. His tranquility is disrupted when Colonel Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna) approaches him, seeking help in aiding the Afghan Mujahideen against Soviet forces. Rambo declines at first, but when Trautman is captured by Soviet commander Colonel Zaysen (Marc de Jonge), he embarks on a daring rescue mission to Afghanistan. There, he allies with local resistance fighters and wages a guerrilla war against the superior Soviet army. Through a series of intense battles and chases, Rambo manages to free Trautman, destroy the Soviet base, and evade capture. The film is filled with high-octane action scenes and explores themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the fight for freedom.
