Real Steel

An American science fiction film released in 2011, directed by Shawn Levy. Set in the near future where human boxing has been replaced by robot fights, the story follows Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman), a former boxer struggling to make a living by controlling robot fighters, facing failures and debts. Upon learning of his ex-girlfriend's death, he gains custody of his 11-year-old son Max (Dakota Goyo), with whom he had a distant relationship. Together, they discover an old sparring robot named Atom and decide to train him for fights. Despite skepticism from others, Atom starts winning matches, climbing the ranks. Throughout this journey, Charlie and Max grow closer, rebuilding their father-son bond. The climax features Atom's fight against the champion Zeus, where, despite losing on points, Atom wins the audience's hearts and is recognized as the people's champion. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and grossed approximately $300 million worldwide.
