The 1955 American science fiction horror film directed by Jack Arnold is a sequel to "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and was the only 3D film released that year. The plot follows the Gill-man, a humanoid amphibious creature who, having survived previous events, is captured and taken to the Ocean Harbor Oceanarium in Florida for study. There, he is examined by animal psychologist Professor Clete Ferguson (John Agar) and ichthyology student Helen Dobson (Lori Nelson), who develop a romantic relationship. The creature becomes infatuated with Helen, complicating the research. Eventually, the Gill-man escapes, kills his handler Joe Hayes (John Bromfield), and flees to the ocean. Obsessed with Helen, he abducts her from a restaurant, but Clete and the police arrive in time to rescue her and shoot the creature. The film is notable for featuring Clint Eastwood's screen debut in a minor role as a lab technician. Despite criticism for its weak plot, the movie was praised for its underwater cinematography and efforts to humanize the characters. It grossed $1.1 million in the U.S. and became part of a trilogy, concluding with "The Creature Walks Among Us" in 1956.
