The 2008 American crime thriller directed by Jon Avnet and written by Russell Gewirtz follows two New York City police detectives, Thomas "Turk" Cowan (Robert De Niro) and David "Rooster" Fisk (Al Pacino), who have been partners for nearly 30 years. They are investigating a series of murders committed by a serial killer known as the "Poetry Boy," who leaves short poems at crime scenes. As the investigation progresses, the detectives confront suspicions involving their colleagues, including Detectives Teddy Riley (Donnie Wahlberg) and Simon Perez (John Leguizamo), as well as Detective Karen Corelli (Carla Gugino), who is also Turk's love interest. Tensions rise as evidence begins to suggest that the killer may be among them. The film is notable for being the third collaboration between De Niro and Pacino, following "The Godfather Part II" and "Heat." Despite its star-studded cast, the film received predominantly negative reviews from critics and grossed approximately $79.4 million worldwide against a $60 million budget.
