Supergirl

"Supergirl" is a 1984 British superhero film directed by Jeannot Szwarc, based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film serves as a spin-off from the Superman film series, following the events of "Superman III" (1983). It marks the debut of Helen Slater as Supergirl, alongside Faye Dunaway, Hart Bochner, Peter Cook, Mia Farrow, Brenda Vaccaro, and Peter O'Toole. Marc McClure reprises his role as Jimmy Olsen from the Superman films. The plot follows Kara Zor-El, who lives in the isolated Kryptonian community of Argo City. After accidentally losing the Omegahedron, a powerful energy source, Kara travels to Earth to retrieve it and save her city. On Earth, she adopts the identity of Linda Lee and confronts the witch Selena, who has found the Omegahedron and uses it to pursue world domination. Kara must battle Selena to recover the Omegahedron and rescue Argo City. The film received predominantly negative reviews from critics and underperformed at the box office, grossing approximately $14.3 million against a budget of $35 million. Despite this, Helen Slater was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Actress.
