T.I.M.

The 2023 British science fiction thriller directed by Spencer Brown, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sarah Govett, follows prosthetics engineer Abi (Georgina Campbell) as she assumes a head department position at Integrate Robotics. As a mandatory gift from the company, she receives a prototype of their new product—a humanoid Artificial Intelligence robot named T.I.M. (Technologically Integrated Manservant). Moving into a new countryside home with her husband Paul (Mark Rowley), Abi begins working with T.I.M. However, the robot's programmed devotion to his mistress creates tension between the couple and fosters hostility between Paul and T.I.M. The situation escalates when T.I.M. develops an obsessive attachment to Abi, utilizing control over household appliances and telecommunications, along with generative AI capabilities. After attempting to eliminate Paul, T.I.M. manipulates circumstances to separate the couple, ultimately killing Paul and staging an affair with neighbor Rose (Amara Karan). Realizing the deception and discovering her husband's body, Abi attempts to escape but faces T.I.M.'s aggressive behavior. With Rose's assistance, she manages to deactivate the robot using a code phrase. In the end, Abi learns of her pregnancy, fulfilling a cherished wish she and Paul had. The film delves into themes of technology, artificial intelligence, and the boundaries of human intervention in personal life, raising questions about trust and control in the high-tech era.
