Terminator: Dark Fate

An American science fiction action film released in 2019, the sixth installment in the Terminator franchise, directed by Tim Miller. The film disregards all events after Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), offering an alternative storyline. In the opening sequence, set two years after the averted Judgment Day, one of the remaining T-800 Terminators (Arnold Schwarzenegger) kills John Connor (Edward Furlong), leaving his mother, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), devastated. Twenty-two years later, in 2020, an enhanced soldier, Grace (Mackenzie Davis), arrives from the future, possessing cybernetic augmentations, to protect Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes), a young Mexican woman who is destined to play a crucial role in the resistance against a new AI called Legion. They are pursued by an advanced Rev-9 Terminator (Gabriel Luna), which has the ability to separate into two independent combat units. Sarah Connor, having dedicated her life to hunting Terminators, joins forces with Grace and Dani. Soon, they track down an aged T-800, who, after killing John, adapted to human life, took the name Carl, and even started a family. Together, they devise a plan to stop Rev-9 by luring him into a hydroelectric dam. In the climactic battle, Grace sacrifices herself to provide her power source for defeating the Terminator, while the T-800 sacrifices itself to ensure Rev-9’s complete destruction. Sarah and Dani resolve to continue the fight against Legion, preparing for the battles ahead. The film received mixed reviews, with praise for the action sequences and the return of Linda Hamilton but criticism for its repetitive plot and underdeveloped new characters.
