An American science fiction action film released in 2014, the fourth installment in the Transformers franchise, directed by Michael Bay. The story is set five years after the Battle of Chicago, with the U.S. government declaring all Transformers as threats and initiating their extermination with the help of the elite CIA unit "Cemetery Wind," led by Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer). The Autobots go into hiding, and Optimus Prime is badly injured. Inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) discovers him in an old truck and helps him recover. Meanwhile, KSI, a technology corporation, has developed a new Transformer called Galvatron, which was created from Megatron’s remains but secretly retains Megatron’s consciousness. Additionally, the alien bounty hunter Lockdown arrives on Earth, hunting Optimus and claiming that Prime is a fugitive. Cade, his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz), and her boyfriend Shane (Jack Reynor) are forced to flee when attacked by the authorities. Optimus gathers the remaining Autobots, including Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs, to stop KSI and Galvatron. They discover that KSI has developed a substance called transformium, which allows for unlimited Transformer creation. In the final battle, Optimus frees the Dinobots—ancient Transformer warriors in the form of dinosaurs—who aid the Autobots against both the humans and Galvatron. Optimus kills Lockdown and saves Cade and his family but realizes that Earth remains in danger. In the end, he sets off into space to find the Transformers’ creators. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was one of the highest-grossing films of the year, earning over $1.1 billion.
