Terminator Genisys

An American science fiction action film released in 2015, serving as the fifth installment in the Terminator franchise, directed by Alan Taylor. The movie reboots the timeline of the series, presenting an alternate history of events. In 2029, John Connor (Jason Clarke), the leader of the Resistance, sends his loyal soldier Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) from an assassin Terminator, just as in the original film. However, upon arrival, Kyle discovers that the timeline has been altered: Sarah is already aware of the impending apocalypse, is protected by a reprogrammed T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), whom she calls "Pops," and is being hunted by a T-1000 (Lee Byung-hun). Together, they decide to prevent the launch of the Genisys system, which is actually a new form of Skynet. Over the course of the events, it is revealed that John Connor himself has been transformed into a T-3000 Terminator after being infected by Skynet's nanotechnology. He becomes the main antagonist, attempting to convince Kyle and Sarah that the future is inevitable. However, they fight back and, with the support of the T-800, destroy the Genisys complex, preventing Judgment Day. In the finale, the T-800 is upgraded with liquid metal capabilities, and Sarah and Kyle are left with an uncertain but hopeful future. The film aimed to reboot the franchise with new plot twists and the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger but received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
