A 2004 American science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jeffrey Nachmanoff, based on the book "The Coming Global Superstorm" by Art Bell and Whitley Strieber. The film follows climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), who discovers that global warming could trigger abrupt climate change. His warnings are ignored, and soon a series of catastrophic weather events, including tornadoes in Los Angeles and hailstorms in Tokyo, lead to a global disaster—the onset of a new ice age. Meanwhile, his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) is trapped in New York City with his friends, including Laura (Emmy Rossum). Jack embarks on a perilous journey across frozen landscapes to rescue his son. The film explores themes of environmental responsibility and human resilience in the face of natural disasters.
