A romantic black comedy by the Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli about a couple whose wedding is put at risk by a single confession. Charlie — a British museum curator — meets the editor Emma in a Boston café, and two years later they are preparing to marry. A week before the wedding, over a drunken dinner with friends, everyone tells the worst thing they have ever done. The best man admits he used an ex-girlfriend as a shield during a dog attack, the maid of honour confesses that as a child she locked a neighbour's boy in an abandoned trailer overnight, and Charlie admits he cyberbullied a classmate. Emma reveals that as a teenager she planned a school shooting and that her deafness in one ear came from practising with a rifle; she abandoned the plan after seeing what a shooting does to people and has campaigned for gun control ever since. Charlie no longer knows who is in front of him, and the week before the wedding turns into suspicions, Emma's nightmares and his own kiss with a colleague, which he breaks off himself. At the wedding everything comes out at once: the maid of honour gives a poisonous toast, Emma learns about the kiss, and Charlie publicly confesses his infidelity in his speech. The film ends in the couple's favourite diner, where they introduce themselves to each other again as if meeting for the first time. The picture asks whether one person can truly know another and what matters more — the past or the person someone has become. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson play the leads; Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie and Hailey Gates also star. Borgli wrote the screenplay himself, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen produced, and A24 handled distribution. The film premiered on 17 March 2026 in Los Angeles and opened in US cinemas on 3 April 2026. Critics praised Pattinson and Zendaya and were divided on the premise itself, and the school-shooting theme drew protests from advocacy groups. On a 28-million-dollar budget the film grossed more than 132 million worldwide.
