The Green Knight

A 2021 American fantasy adventure film directed by David Lowery, based on the medieval English poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight." Set in the world of Arthurian legends, the story follows Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur's young nephew, who seeks to prove his valor and secure his place at the Round Table. During a Christmas feast, the mysterious Green Knight (Ralph Ineson) arrives and issues a challenge: any knight may strike him, but in one year and one day, the knight must receive an equal blow in return. Along the way, he encounters bandits, the ghostly Saint Winifred (Erin Kellyman), a mysterious Lord (Joel Edgerton), and his seductive Lady (Alicia Vikander), who tests his resolve. As his confidence wavers, Gawain begins to realize that true honor is not about grand gestures, but about internal struggle and self-discovery. The film explores themes of destiny, honor, bravery, and human frailty, offering a modern reinterpretation of the classic knightly tale.
