The Help

A 2011 drama film directed by Tate Taylor, based on Kathryn Stockett’s novel of the same name. Set in the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi, the story follows young journalist Skeeter Phelan (Emma Stone / Natalya Fishchuk), who decides to write a book from the perspective of Black maids working in white households. She interviews Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis / Tatyana Vasilyeva) and Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer / Tatyana Shitova), risking her social standing. The film explores themes of racial discrimination, social prejudice, and female solidarity, earning multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
