A 2013 fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel. The film continues the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who, along with Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), journeys eastward to reclaim the dwarves’ homeland and treasure taken by the dragon Smaug. On their way, they pass through Mirkwood, facing giant spiders and elves, and later reach Laketown. Armed with a magical ring, Bilbo ultimately infiltrates Smaug’s lair, coming face-to-face with the cunning dragon.
