Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

A 2016 fantasy film directed by David Yates, based on the book of the same name by J.K. Rowling, serving as a prequel to the Harry Potter film series. The story is set in 1926 in New York City, where magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives with a suitcase full of magical creatures. When several of them escape, Newt finds himself caught in the middle of a conflict between the wizarding world and anti-magic No-Majs, including members of the "Second Salemers" organization, who oppose magic. Along the way, he meets former Auror Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), her sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), and a No-Maj baker, Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), who become his allies. Meanwhile, Auror head Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) has a secret agenda involving a powerful entity called an Obscurus, a destructive manifestation of suppressed magic within a child named Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller). It is later revealed that Graves is actually Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in disguise, a dark wizard seeking wizard supremacy over Muggles. After an intense showdown, Newt and his friends restore order, and the memories of the city's residents are erased. However, the story is far from over, as Grindelwald has been captured, but his true plans remain unknown.
