The Jacket

A psychological thriller with elements of science fiction, filmed in 2004 in the USA by director John Maybury. The plot follows Gulf War veteran Jack Starks (Adrien Brody), who, after suffering a severe head injury, experiences amnesia. Returning to Vermont, he becomes entangled in a murder of a police officer he did not commit and is admitted to a psychiatric clinic. There, Dr. Thomas Becker (Kris Kristofferson) subjects him to experimental treatment: Jack is placed in a straitjacket and isolated in the morgue drawer. During these sessions, he begins to experience visions that transport him to the future, where he meets Jackie Price (Keira Knightley), a woman with whom he develops a complex relationship. Trying to understand the nature of his visions and alter his fate, Jack confronts questions of reality, time, and his own identity. The film explores themes of memory, mental health, and the possibility of changing a predetermined course of events.
