The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

The 2003 American-British-German-Czech adventure film directed by Stephen Norrington, with a screenplay by James Dale Robinson, is based on the comic book series of the same name by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill. Set in 1899, the story follows a mysterious terrorist known as the Fantom, who orchestrates attacks to incite a world war. The final confrontation occurs in Mongolia, where Quatermain sacrifices himself to save Sawyer. The film blends elements of steampunk, adventure, and fantasy, bringing together iconic literary characters into a single narrative. Despite its commercial success, the film received predominantly negative reviews from critics and marked Sean Connery's final film role before his retirement from acting.
