The Mask of Zorro

The 1998 American swashbuckler film directed by Martin Campbell reimagines the legend of Zorro, based on the character by Johnston McCulley. Set in early 19th-century California, the story follows the original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins), who escapes from prison after twenty years to seek revenge against his nemesis, former governor Don Rafael Montero (Stuart Wilson), who killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter Elena (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and raised her as his own. Under de la Vega's mentorship, Alejandro transforms into the new Zorro. Together, they aim to thwart Montero's plans to seize land and exploit the local population.
