A 2003 animated short film in the genre of satirical dystopia, parodying the iconic science-fiction franchise The Matrix while addressing the issues of factory farming. The story follows the main character, Leo, an anthropomorphic pig who lives in an illusion, believing that his farm is an idyllic place where animals are happy and free. However, everything changes when he meets the mysterious Moopheus, a wise bull who offers him a choice: remain ignorant or learn the truth. Choosing truth, Leo discovers that his "farm" is actually an industrial facility where animals live in cramped cages, are subjected to antibiotics, and suffer cruel treatment. Alongside Moopheus and the cow Trinita, he embarks on a mission to expose the horrors of factory farming and promote alternative practices such as organic agriculture. The Meatrix gained widespread popularity on the internet and was recognized as an effective tool for advocating ethical animal treatment. The film won multiple awards and spawned sequels, including The Meatrix II: Revolting (2006) and The Meatrix II ½ (2006), which further explore the impact of mass meat production on the environment and human health.
