A 2022 American thriller with elements of black comedy directed by Mark Mylod. The story is set on a secluded island, home to the exclusive restaurant Hawthorne, run by renowned chef Julian Slowik (Ralph Fiennes), who offers a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. Among the elite guests are a young couple, Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult), who, along with other wealthy and influential patrons, anticipate an exquisite meal. However, as the evening progresses, it becomes clear that the chef has prepared more than just gourmet dishes. The courses are accompanied by disturbing performances, and the tension escalates as the guests realize they are part of a meticulously crafted and sinister plan. The plot explores themes of elitism, arrogance, and the destructive cult of personality, forcing the characters to confront their sins. The film also stars Hong Chau as the restaurant's strict manager, Janet McTeer, John Leguizamo, and Judith Light. Combining intense drama, a satirical take on the culinary world, and unexpected twists, the film delivers a unique and chilling experience.
