The 2002 American action-adventure film directed by Chuck Russell serves as a prequel to "The Mummy Returns," detailing the origin story of the Scorpion King. Set in ancient times, the ruthless warlord Memnon (Steven Brand) seeks to conquer all tribes, utilizing the prophecies of the sorceress Cassandra (Kelly Hu). The remaining free tribes hire the Akkadian mercenary Mathayus (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) to assassinate the sorceress, aiming to strip Memnon of his advantage. Infiltrating Memnon's camp, Mathayus discovers that Cassandra is aiding the tyrant against her will. Instead of killing her, he abducts her, intending to use her prophecies against Memnon. As they journey together, a bond forms between Mathayus and Cassandra. Facing numerous trials, including betrayal and battles, Mathayus rallies the scattered tribes for a final confrontation against Memnon's forces. In the climactic battle, Mathayus defeats Memnon, liberating the people from his tyranny, and ascends as the new ruler, known as the Scorpion King. The film blends elements of adventure, fantasy, and action, offering viewers a dynamic storyline with epic battles and a romantic subplot.
